hello,
i am looking for advice and a programmer that supports read/write for the ancient NEC D23256AC or it's modern drop in equivalent ?

the chip is on a micro-controller board where the NEC ROM may be fried or possibly just scrambled. in either event you all know better than i what i need to do... copy a known good ROM image and write to the old ROM or a ROM replacement.

do the programmers have a way to stress / test a ROM ? is that even a good idea ?

Also, there is a static RAM chip (SRM2016C15) that maybe affected. Can that RAM be read / written / tested on the programmer as well , maybe it is too different a beast ?

image included in later post.
thanks for any useful help and advice,
bitboy
