I'm using a PSOP44 adapter for the AM29F200AB chip. I can read it but can't erase or write to the chip. I belive I have all the jumpers set correctly. Any ideas or hints?

Most likely the new chip not be protected.
If this happend on new chips, then check the adapter contact to programmer.

You can lock the adapter on ZIF and then push the adapter little bit in ZIF, this will help to reduce the contact problem.

You should be able to get the ID correctly.

It's a brand new blank chip. Is it possible that it could be protected?

This is the exact chip:

I can erase and write a 93C46 chip no problem.

The chip may be protected.
