hi all, i am trying to program a 29f200 using the ADP-019 adapter (from mcu mall) the programmer im using is from ebay

h**p://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EPROM-EEPROM-Programmer-PIC-BIOS-PCB-5-0-/150569907282?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item230eaa7452

each tim i try to write it says address error, even without a chip in the socket it will 'read it', as far as i can see the switches are all set correctly,,,,any ideas??

This problem was caused by the adapters which are brand new from mcu mall but for some reason the chip would not connect proplerly unless the pins were tinned first ive had the same problem with the 8 pin adapter and had to tin the pins on the chip each time

All adapters should be tested.
Check chip orientation.

hi thanks for your reply,

ive checked and cleaned the chip pins & ive setup the DIP according to the instructions on the programmer software, ive also tried other 29f200 but i get the same error, ive read and programmed other eeproms in other adapters without a prob, im starting to think it may be a prob with the adapter??

If could be following problems:

1. chip pin contact.
2. programmer DIP/jumper setting wrong.
3. programmer not work reliably.
4. chip problem.
5. chip orientation wrong.
6. adapter voltage jumper not in 5V position.
