Hi

I have owned my GQ-4X since 2010 and the hardware revision is: H/W Re: GQ-4X Re-1.30(SW Re. 6.21)

Is there an update to update the hardware revision ? I noticed while reading through this forum that some people have H/W Re: 2.10 and wondered what i'm missing

Thanks

Just out of curiosity, what is wrong with your unit?
phil789 Posted - 05/07/2017 : 06:51:37
ZLM i have sent you an email! asking for the newest firmware for my unit! :)

My current info:
H/W Re: GQ-4X Re-1.30(SW Re. 6.38)
USB Driver Re.2.0
Software Re. 6.38

Many Thanks..

Sorry for the late reply.

The 9332B has same pinout with 2532, except the pin 21 CS2 pin.

The datasheet does not have description of CS1 and CS2.

Try to connect CS1 and CS2 pins together while reading. If this does not work, then you can try to connect the CS1 to pin 12 (GND) while reading.

connect three pins together and select 2532 from GQ-4X software:

50399 bytes

Any update?

I think this is it
h**p://www.datasheetarchive.com/dlmain/Databooks-1/Book241-577.pdf

The chips are very old from a pac-man arcade game circa 1980

9332B can be replaced with TMS2532JL -- which reads fine but all the 9332B chips read and the first 0x800 bytes are always FF -- I know the chips are good and work, just can read them properly in the burner

Maybe both CS1 & CS2 need turned on to read properly ?

Can I get the formware update?

My current info:
H/W Re: GQ-4X Re-1.40(SW Re. 6.38)
USB Driver Re.2.0
Software Re. 6.38

I hoping it will resolve reading 9332B OTP ROM chips -- they are 2532 compatible but whenever I read them the first half of the chip is all FF's

true 2532 eprom's read fine

most likely you do not need the new firmware. There are only very little changes and not in function.

The programmer software tells you, if you select a chip that requires higher firmware version IIRC

Thanks that's good to know, " if it ain't broke don't fix it " my rule to :-) Is there a list that shows the required " firmware version " for each device the GQ-4x supports ?, In the device list i have it doesn't say anything about the required firmware version the GQ-4x needs to successfully program a particular device.

Thanks

Flashing updates can brick devices, so its one of those "if its not broke, dont fix it". Only flash if you need the updated support of devices.

Thanks, Sounds like i'm not missing anything then, i'll leave as is though bit of a bummer not having easy access to hardware / firmware updates if needed, shipping and return cost's would probably be a tad expensive from the UK.

Cheers
