Before I buy... does the Willem Universal EPROM Programmer program the PIC17C42A?

A simple answer (yes/no) would be greatly appreciated.

This microcontroller has EPROM memory. So it has a little window at the top that I can use to shine ultraviolet light and erase it's contents.

The PIC17CXXXX I believe is OTP type of microcontroller. (One Time Programmable only). To study PIC microcontroller, you may need get a flash type of microcontroller. Such as PIC16F87XXX, those flash based microcontroller you can program as many time as you want.

Ol thanks for replying. I just got the model of microcontroller I stated above for my birthday, and want to get started with microcontroller programming. The programmers you can get where I live are over 600 dollars!!

So I hope you can support the PIC71C42A soon enough :)

No. Current software does not support PIC17CXXX chip yet. It may support it in the future.
