I just purchased a MCS-51+Adapter & Enhanced Willem EPROM Programmer ATMEL with the hopes of reprogramming motherboard bios chips. I cannot find this chip (W49F002UP70B) in the device listing, have tried W49V002A & W49V002FA without success. There are no other WINBOND device listings that I can see. I know it is a W49002U 32pin PLCC 2 megabit, 5 volt CMOS flash memory (http://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/pdf/47674/WINBOND/W49F002UP70B.html).

So my question is, is the programmer I purchased compatible? Am I doing something wrong? When I try reading the red light comes on and for hardware id I get 0x4, 0x4, Fujitsu. Writing and verify both fail instantly.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I understand what you are saying (about using fhw/lpc socket to program), only thing is I cannot locate my chip in the program. Take a look at the pic and you will see what I mean. If I am looking in the wrong spot please tell me so I can find the error in my ways. Thanks for any and all help.
