Hi,

I am trying to program a AM29F010B Chip (for use on a Audi ECU) with Willem EPROM3 using a Parallel(Connection)/USB(power) board with a combined DIP32—PLCC32/DIP28—PLCC32/FHW-LPC Adapter. I place the chip in the DIP32 socket.

take a look in this topic, post #6

h**p://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=263469

I have no idea at all on how to work the program out, when it seems to work nothing actually works on when placed in the ECU. My tuner says I am doing something wrong but is unsure what.

Can anyone give step by step (idiot proof) instructions on how to use the programmer?

Thanks!

first get the datasheet for the chip

using the tools in the programmers front end app for testing the programmer in all modes
you need to determine the programmer is ok too use
and it provides at each pin the correct vcc vpp etc
as needed

and also make triple sure jumpers and blocks are correct for signals routines vcc and vpp

the front end tools are quite explicite and require very little brain power
from a blank socket

NEVER plug any chip in before you test its programming realms etc without it there

using an lcd voltmeter measure basicaly vcc and vpp
and the right pins as per the actual chip type family type, name and maker

to guage your port and vcc is correct

where possible use only 12v dc supply to the dc plug
forget the usb power its only usefull for field porgramming from a laptop of 5v chips

anything else needs attention from the onboard or not voltage corrections circuit
some programmers dont do this well so stick to 12v actual power
{stay in the the car... }

use the parallel port as epp only no ecc mode
then it mostly wont use an interrupt {windows above winME will not like int 7 unless its virtual}

most people fail to use a bi directional printer cable
and use a uni direction one

so buy a bi-directional cable
here is one

guy says more than 10 there for £8 youll find it cheeper or rake through the box till you find one

but you need 25pin female to 25pin male

better make one!!!! yourself!!!
cost is about £5 in the uk
