Hi, I'm wanting to program a 40 pin SST39VF080 chip that is on a laptop motherboard, there is a solder pad header on the board and I have the GQ-4X programmer which supports this chip, but the software says I need a TSOP40 to DIP32 adapter if the chip was taken off the board to be programmed. Can I connect pin 1 to 1 through 40 to 40 between the chip and the programmer? Do I need to make a special Device line to program it this way without the adapter? If so what would it be? Thanks!

The chip can not be programmed on board. You have to place it in a adaper and then program it on the programmer.
