Hi
Can i ask for help/support about this model on this forum?
I am having trouble using this programmer
It keeps telling me that the chip is inserted backwards..
I normally use the GQ-4X programmer to read and write 24cxx and 25cxx...etc
I don't desolder the chips, I use the test clip that I also bought from mcumall, this one:
http://www.mcumall.com/comersus/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4481
And I never had any problems.

I am using the same test clip on the VP990 bu this won't work, either it read ok but the buffer is FFFFFFF
Or, It gives an error message: "the chip is inserted backwards or already damaged"
I am being told that I must desolder the chips as the VP990 does not work on soldered chips on board
Is this right?
Can someone give advice please ?

Thanks in advance

Hi, yes you are right
VP990 does not allow in circuit programming
After desoldering the chip and using the right adapter, it works OK
Just more hassle compared to GQ-4X

Hi
Yes it has a ISP socket at the back...
Maybe this programmer does not support reading on board ??
