Hello,

I have to re-flash few M27C4002.
Those chips was UV erased, I dumped one wich have new firmware, but when I try the programm the EPROM I got an error "Error at 0x000000 Chip = 0xFF buffer = 0x00". I read somewhere that I need to chose in the interface the 27C040 model of chip for writting the 27C4002 but of course it doesn't work. Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

So which programmer is recommended for those flash ?

Thank EZoSat. I was wrong. The 27C040 is the EPROM, not the flash. I was thinking 29C040 flash chip at that time.

As asked some pictures of my programmer with adaptater on it.

Sorry for the poor quality.

No. The 27C040 is flash chip. Only uses 5V vpp.
But 27C4002 needs 12V Vpp.

I'll suspect your 27C4002 is a bad chip.

Can you post a picture of your programmer with chip and adapter on it?
I may check it for you.

So I have check all DIP switch and there is no contact issue and the programmer seems to be fine. I also try with few 27C4002 and I have the same error. Is that true that I have to choose the 27C040 model to write to on a 27C4002 ?

Thanks in advance

Use a multimeter, test programmer in Test H/W tab of software.

Also, check each DIP position(ON and OFF) on DIP switch if there are any contact issue.

If all OK. Then I will suspect your EPROM bad.

Well, check all jumper settings and DIP settings. If those are OK, then check the Vpp if it is correct. If you are using Dual power willem, then the Vpp should be around 12.5V or 12.7V. If you are using Enhanced willem, the the Vpp should be about 12V.

The jumpers and the DIP are OK and the Vpp is at 12,5V (I have the dual powered willem). I still have the same problem. Can I do something wrong while I try to flash those EPROM ?
