I have the "Enhance JDM PIC programmer Microchip with 40pin ZIF" trying to read/write to a PIC 16F689 (20pin device). I tried winpic800; PicPgm; ponyprogV206f; ICprog105D; winpicprog1.0.1.2. None of these programs can detect this device. Is it really supported? the Ebay listing shows it is but the mcumall website does not list 16F689 and I cannot find any instructions were to place pin1 in the 40 pin ZIF. Anyone used this programmer with the same device?

The 20 pin chip is not supported on 40pin ZIF soclet. You need to use ICSP connection.
