Hi, a real newbie here.

I'm trying to figure out how to program an Atmel AT49BV040A PLCC32. Reading through messages on this and other boards, it appears that this chip is the equivalent of the SST39SF040, and/or the SST39LF/VF040. No matter which device I try, though, I get an error at 0x00000, chip=0xFF buffer=0x02. The chip reads, erases and verifies against a buffer of all 0xFF.

The board reads PCB5-E, purchased on eBay. It came with a CD-R with PCB5.0 hand-written on it. The disk's internal label comes up "KEE_Soft", and it contains 98d8, 97g and 97ja software. I've tried both the 98d8 and 97ja software, with the same result. The 97g exe file is corrupt, so I haven't tried that version.

I've tried using the USB port for power, and also a 12v DC wall wart.

Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong?
