Hello!

I have a GQ-3X programmer and a "EPROM 16 BIT DIP 40" adapter. I am trying to read some 27C400 eproms or even 256/512kbyte mask roms, but I can't get it working. All I get is FFs in the output, infact you get FFs even if you don't have the adapter plugged and try to read without any chip in the ZIF socket.
I am attaching a picture of the adapter.

Is it just incompatible or damaged? maybe I am missing something?
The programmer reads/writes just fine ICs that fit without an adapter.

Thanks in advance for any info/help!

You got wrong adapter.

This adapter is for 40 pin 16 bit EPROM. Like 27C2048.

The 27C400 need a 42 pin 16 bit adapter.

The correct adapter is ADP-054. And put your chip in 42 pin ZIF socket of adapter.
