Using GQ-4X under Windows 8.1 with software version 6.29

WITHOUT a chip, I get this:
Writing... Code
Elapsed time: 7.13 seconds.
Device write completed OK
ID check skipped
Verifying... Code
Device is verified
Elapsed time: 2.05 seconds.

Does this software/programmer work? How can it?
Any help would be appreciated.

Makes no difference if the ID check box is checked. Also, there was data in the buffer. The software does not seem to check if there is a chip in the programmer.

The software write correctly.

If you uncheck the ID checkbox from the software right panel, then the programmer and software skip chip ID checking.

In this case, if you press program button without a chip, then the software programs data without chip.

In your case, you did not load any data, so your software buffer is empty. The software write the empty buffer to a empty chip(no chip on socket) and verified without problem since they are both are empty.
