No I have not but it seems this is happening when the GQ software first loads and is going out internet to see if any updates Only someone who knows what GQ does for this as what that URL is for and why it fails when clearly the internet connect (broadband cable) is fully functional as I have used a browser right before and after this GQ error and the internet path is fully functional
Could the URL path GQ put in V 7.27 startup be wrong and why is that a path ?
Thanks |

As the screenshot I just took shows
GQ 4x4 unit is connected to the P/C and the GQ 4x4 software is running BUT there is nothing plugged into the ZIP socket so just sitting idle
BUT when looks at the MSwindows XP pro event you see the GQ 4x4 device driver by Cypress Version 3 keeps going out internet and either downloads with success some .cab file or most cases fails to do so
The longer GQ 4x4 is functional the more times this happens Notice in events looking at time stamps how many times this has been happening
Why is this happening and does this GQ driver have some virus or spy thing going on as why keep asking going out to download the same cab file many times in a short timeframe ? What is in that .cab file ? Is some bug of GQ 4x4 that keeps loading some update which shows when first loading the software ?

This is another problem and not part of the dropping of USB port |

Thanks for the Microsoft URL as to failures of the Cypress driver
I read all the threads it had and then tested this on 4 P/Cs The problem with code 11 error seen in the windows events function tends to show when using XP
Issue ends up :
Cause
This behavior can occur if the Update Root Certificates component is turned on and the computer cannot connect to the Windows Update server on the Internet. The Update Root Certificates component automatically updates trusted root-certificate authorities from the Microsoft Update server at regular intervals. Resolution
Workaround that will stop GQ 4x4 from trying and failing to download the .CAB file is :
To resolve this behavior, you must connect to the Internet or turn off the Update Root Certificates component. To turn off the Update Root Certificates component, follow these steps:
In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs. Click Add/Remove Windows Components. Clear (uncheck)the Update Root Certificates check box, and then continue with the Windows Components Wizard.
Monitor the events and assure no longer getting Cyp32 (driver driver for GQ) error 11 (fails)
Considering this GQ driver issue was reported back in 2010 you would think Mcumall would have done what is needed on the install of software of Cypress device driver to fix this problem
Most people I would think have never looked at the events function to see this error happening countless times and going onto the Internet each time without the end user knowing this .CAB file is being downloaded or error'd out even though no updating is being done :(
So I will leave all 4 P/Cs on and monitor the events to assure problem is gone but in last 2 hours on none have reported this Cyp32 error
Now I have to solve why GQ 4x4 keeps blowing out the USB port, with no support by Mcumall :-(

You do realize that MCUMall nor Cypress can fix a problem Microsoft has created when it stopped supporting XP. |

You do realize the GQ 4x and the device driver they sell to this day is to work also on XP and the driver issue reported 10 years ago XP was still supported ? No excuse in not fixing this when a new customer buys the GQ, their install process is just doing that and the end user/customer should not be blamed of what MS does today when the product was designed for XP
AS it is when the Cypress driver is installed a window pops up and warns that the driver was not tested and approved for MSwindows
No, no excuse, they had 10 years to either do a fix on install or at least give the customer content of what a work around is and to this day their marketing GQ 4x product page says : ( see the XP ?)

Is it now clear that most other USB drivers do NOT require a work around like this and it is not doing updates every time it is functional when there is zero updates for this driver in many years ?

It is your responsibility to upgrade and maintain the OS more so if it not supported anymore. |

Bunk the GQ 4x4 is marketed as working all the way back to Windows 98 False marketing as the Cypress driver was never tested, including back in 2008 to be certified for Microsoft Windows
You cannot market this product that says if works on XP and then you find it failing and blame the customer because they are using XP |

It work flawlessly on XP. 98, I can't say since I have no 98 machine but it can probably be verified on a virtual one. |
