Im getting the hardware error and ive tried correcting it. I changed the parellel port to EPP. I have a 12v 500ma power supply and the yellow led lights up. When i flip the #6 dip switch to on a red led lights up. i can make the green one come on by barely putting the parrelel chord onto the burner with a chip in . This cable is brand new. Ugh im frustrated. sounds like my cable is all messed up

Confirm following:

1. The data cable. The cable must be parallel extension cable, also called printer extension cable. It's a pin to pin female-male type 25 pin connector. You can use multimeter to confirm this(pin to pin).
2. The PC's printer port setting. The printer port setting must be ECP and or EPP mode. Otherwise it reports hardware error : check power & connections
3. The power supply should be between 9V and 12V, 200mA above, either AC or DC. So, most of power supply 9V or 12V should be OK.
4. If you still not get it working, try different computer.

Note, when you doing testing, set the DIP to 3,5,6,8,10,12 ON, all others OFF. Also, before you try to do any programming thing, you need get "Hardware present" message in the message bar when you click on the "Test Hardware" menu item which is under "Help".
