 External 9 Vdc for Gq 4x4

All the users manual says is :

Note:
If you are using an un-powered USB hub or extension hub, it may not provide enough power to operate the USB programmer.
In this case, you may need a 9V, 200mA (or greater) DC adapter with a center-positive, 2.1mm DC plug.

If plugging into the D/C connector or programmer and supplying 9 Vdc is there anything that has to be set so that programmer
knows that being used and

Will that 9 Vdc effect the D/C that a USB port is supplying at same time ?

Also says 9 Vdc or greater, what is best voltage level to supply if using an adjustable power supply ?

Nothing needs to be set, just plug i in and it will work without affecting your USB.
If you are using a good lab supply 9V to 12V is fine.

Yes using a bench power supply that handle 400 mAmps and will set it to like 10 Vdc
