Hello,

I'm having lots of trouble successfully burning a 27C4002 eprom. I am able to dump and blank check the eproms no problem. When I attempt to burn an eprom, it instantly fails and says "error at 0x000801 Chip = 0x00 buffer = 0x67". If I dump the chip that failed, a tiny amount of data was written, but the chip is empty for the most part.

I'm running Windows 2000. I read the readme, and I copied over the DLPORTIO.DLL and DLPORTIO.SYS in my system32 directory. I'm running .97i+ for the software supplied on mcumall.com. I have the jumpers adjusted to 2716, and am using the 16bit eprom adaptor. I'm also using a 12v 500ma power supply, in addition to the paralell port and USB port. I also have PCB3 selected in the programming software.

Any suggestions on where I might be going wrong?

Thanks for any help,
Bill

Did you erase the chip and blank check the chip before write?
Can you confirm you used a correct 16 bit EPROM adapter?
How do you know the data you dumped is correct?

If you can confirm the chip is blank before the write, then there is a possibility for the DIP switch setting is wrong or the DIP switch has contacting issue, even the DIP switch is broken.
Also, check the IC socket if it needs clearn.

By the way, I am able to successfully dump my eproms with the jumper settings set to normal. I just can not program them with out it dying at 3% (it dies at the same spot every time).

Ok so I adjusted the jumpers so they are the correct setting(normal). I still can't seem to burn any of my 27C4002 chips. I have about 6 different chips that I am testing with. The burn process gets to 3% and dies every time. The error message I get now is "error at 0x000801 Chip = 0x00 buffer = 0x26". Is there a reccomended tWP and tWC value that I use for this perticular chip? They are ST brand chips.

Thanks for any help,
Bill

The jumpers are located just right side of the ZIF. The normal setting seee: http://www.mcumall.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=104

Ok tonight when I get home from work I will change the jumper settings. By normal setting, you mean the option that is listed first in all of the settings correct? Also, I adjust the dip switches accordingly based on what the software tells me.

After I erase my eproms, I blank check them, then attempt to write. The blank check passes every time granted I have a successful erase.

Thanks for the help!

It seems your jumper setting was wrong.
The jumper should set to Normal position, not the 2716 chip setting.
You need set the DIP switch too.

Also, do a blank check before write.
