Hiho!

I own a Top2049 programmer since 2 weeks, and just found this forum... I noticed, that most users have strange problems with their TOP programmers... strange. My unit is working fine, using for 74xxx detection (tested over 50 various chips within 2 week period), various device programming (28cxx, ph29ee010, 49lf002a, etc etc, tested over 200 various chips) - and no problems at all. Before this Top2049 unit i had (to be correct still have, using for ICSP fun) a Willem Universal programmer, and that one is far far slower and supports far less devices - and dip switches... brr :)

Only crap thing is those terrible software for Top... yeah, that is crap, badly translated, and a bit hard to use, but othercase working fine. I just tried the latest version (3.23), and noticed some minor translation fixes, but still far from perfect ;)

Maybe Top programmers hardware version could be the source of problems? My one is v1.09 according to TopWin, and power level only 60% using my laptop, but never had problems with, and never tried the external PSU.

i cant find the data sheet in english the chinese one ill look for later

the part states 3.3v vcc {ie vcc=3300} in the config file
however im not so sure the programming voltage is 3.3v
maybe its 5v programming or something strange

gentlemen, I check the electronic circuit and i find a bad welds ,that can produce chips that some programs and not others, also I can not write the STC 89c53rc I think that puts a protective function of writing and this software does not remove

you need to set your usb controller to 12mbps speed and not to use 480mbps
if you cant do this in the system bios then use a machine with usb1.1 and not 2.1 complient
that uses hispeed usb 12mbps and not fullspeed 480mbps

the problem was this all along

so perfect toy yes but very practicle also

I think you are crazy...
Its my second TOP. 2048 before, 2049 now.
The 2048 had problems reading and writing until i repaired the burned transistors. THis new 2049 arrived last week and its already put to side to later remove every single part and replace with new ones...

NOTE: We only buy the beautiful white box thingie, a PCB and the 52pin ZIF....
THE REST has no other words to describe it better:

Do you mean 27256 guess (that is the NMOS version). 27C256/27C512/etc working fine with my Top2049. Only the NMOS versions are problematic, others are fine. I still do not have any other problem with my device. (and those NMOS chip related problem is software related, im 99% sure - just i was toooo lazy to reverse engineer the usb communication to fix it :)

So, found some 27256 chips here (from ST), and it seems it is really problematic to program with Top2049. When i set programming speed to 'slowness' (heh ;) it can program about $c0-$f0 bytes from and stop after. With higher speed settings it fail at the start of the chip (at least when im using default 'high' speed). Guess, it is only software timing related. Not an issue for me, however i hope it will be fixed in the next TopWin versions.

According to most common 27xxx chip programming related problem:

I never tried to program 27xxx chips (non-cmos versions - i simply do not have such here), but it programmed sucessfully various 27C128, 27C256, 27C512, (failed only with one 27C64, but that chip was bad, my Willem stopped at the same position during programming ;), and 27C1024 too.
Maybe i have somewhere NMOS 27xxx chips, look around at my workplace junk corner tomorrow.

Primary i bought this device to test/check various logical chips on my spare, half dead Souriau26a Citroen diagnostic station, and bring back into the life ;)
