Posted - 12/11/2008 : 18:11:54 Dear Sirs,
I’m having some trouble writing to ST M27C256B chips. I get the a message box “Write failed, Address=0x000000, Buffer=0x02 Device=0xFE”. I’ve verified that the chips are blank and inserted correctly. I’m using the USB from a powered USB hub. I’ve just got the programmer so I’m sure I’m doing something silly. Any suggestions to the newbie? Much Thanks, Carl

There are no special setting for this chip.
How about you skip the USB hub? just plug programmer in USB port of your computer. If this still does not work, then you can write an email to support@mcumall.com for the RMA. And say this programmer is defective you need to exchange. |

Posted - 12/17/2008 : 17:26:55 How do I return this board? It doesn't perform to my modest expectations. Customer service is on an equal level. |

Posted - 12/14/2008 : 03:23:24 Negative. I noticed that you suggested on an earlier post to jump Pin 14 to 20 (grnd to CE) with a 1k resistor. Just as an exercise, I'll give that a go today and let you know. What's so unique to this chip configuration? Anyway, thanks for the get-back. Carl |

Posted - 12/12/2008 : 16:25:02 Status bar reports it as GQ-3X Re-1.30. I have an old friend (programmer) that requires an ISA bus (that's how old it is) that I can write these chips but I wanted to upgrade so that when that old battle-ax of a DOS box dies I won't be left without. I also get the same response from a TI TMS27C256-12. I'll look in my box for other chips and keep a log of success/failure. Thanks for your input though. Carl |
