Hi all,
I have just purchased a second hand PCB50B Eprom Programmer to help me repair old arcade machine pcb's. The problem I have is that the 20 pin IC chip next to the parallel port (it's adjacent to the other 6 IC's) was put in back to front and has blown. The chip itself has had the details rubbed off of the surface so I don't know what the chip was - can anyone tell me what it should be? I'm not sure why this was done - the other 6 IC's can be read easily. Also, do you think it will still work even when I replace it? There are no other signs of damage to the board and the chips looks standard.
I have also downloaded '098d12' - is this the correct software?
Sorry if these are basic questions - eproms and their hardware are a bit new to me  |

I did run into another problem that I solved. My parallel port had the wrong address as I installed a card I found on eBay in a spare port. The EPROM software looks for specific address (0x378 for example). The address for my card is D898. This link tells you how to get round the problem:

Just found some on the net - I'll order one and go from there. I wonder why the details were rubbed off in the first place?
I don't suppose there's a link somewhere to a schematic for the programmer? Would be nice to have something to follow if the new IC does not fix the problem. |

Anyone? I think it's a 74HC224 which is a Octal bus interface but I just need to be certain before I order the new IC.
