Hi all,

i am new on this board an this is the first time i approach the eprom/eeprom world, so be patient with me :)

i wanna be able to let some arcade PCB's of mine (Williams Joust by first, but i have various defective PCB's from 1980 to 1995) to play again. Those games PCB's uses 2732, 2716 eprom. The S.O. my portable PC has is Windows Vista and i have not a parallel port...

I was interested in a cheap programmer like the GQ4X or 3X, but i don't know what accessories i would need... could someone help me on finding out the best solution to program those old eproms (that family of eproms) indicating programmer and accesories?

Also: what's the main difference between 3x and 4x true usb programmers?

thanks a lot :)

Thanks for the answer. I don't know what JTAG Support, Fast mode SPI, Altera Xilinx CPLD means (it looks like those are the main differences); so GQ-3X is good for my pourposes? What accessory would i need?

thanks a lot ;)

if you are mainly for 2732, 2716 EPROMs, then the GQ-3X is good. If you want to let progrmmer support newer SPI EEPROMs, then the GQ-4X is better.

Thanks for the answer. For what concerns accessories, do i need special accessories or the 3X and 4X are ready-to-go with 27xx eproms?

No one can help me figuring if the basic pack is ready to handle 27xx EPROM without accessories? And what about an external power supply? Thanks :)

You do not need the externl power adapter, unless you are connecting the programmer ro a unpowered US B hub.

If your 27xx EPROMs in DIP package, then you do not need any adapters.

You one should be PDIP.

Not sure if they are PDIP (maybe CerDIP?) but they should fit the ZIF socket (they are common arcade PCB's EPROMS)

they are same size. If it is in black color, then it is PDIP. If it is brown, then it is CerDIP.
