The GQ-3X and GQ-4X programmer can be used to program, update, reset the airbag chip L56R on TOYOTA airbag sensor unit. The L56R chip need to be removed from the PCB and place it in a SOIC8 adapter. And then program it on the programmer. The protective coating on the chip need to be removed in order to get a good pin contacting.

How to remove a SOIC 8 chip from PCB and then solder it back?

Hi,

I got a GQ-4X and I am able to read data from a tms2764.

Now, I am trying to read a L56R chip. Exact part number is L56R 526W and it is an SOIC8. I have remove the chip from the board and remove the protective coating ( double check via a black light ). I am using the ADP-004 SOIC8 SOP8 ZIF Adaptor.

1.- Strangely, in the USBProg, it doesnt ask for an adapter when you select a L56R?

2.- All I can read is FFFF ( 8 or 16 bits )

What else can I try to troubleshoot?

Regards,

Daluv

It is ok if the software does not ask the adapter. You can use adapter if your chip is in SOIC8 package.

The chip may only has all FFFF.

Use blank check to confirm this.

Make sure the chip and adapter have no contacting problem.
