First time user here. All info on the eprom is "8017, MB8516 and J19". I was not able to locate MB8516 from the device list on the GQ-4x4 so I chose MB85R256 will this work? Each chip is coming back as blank but they have no cover over the window and the write process fails. Below is the pasted message.

Elapsed time: 0.00 seconds.
Write failed, Address=0x00003A, Buffer=0x00 Device=0xFF

Thank you in advance for any help.

Thanks, I had noticed I was wrong thinking that they both started with mb85.. they would be the same series since the other had an extra set of pins. I tried MBM2716 but failed part way through without external power. Trying it now with external power. I will update, thanks again anniel.

That was it, needed the external power too! Thanks Anniel
