first off a big hello to everyone and im glad i found a site related to the willem since willem.org is gone
ok i got a willem 3.1 with a tsop 48 and i was hoping to program a intel te28f160 chip, ive just downloaded 97ja version of the software
but i cannot get the chip to id, all i get is a (----)can anyonehelp with the set up of the jumpers and stuff please

There are different adapter designs. But most of adapter pin 1 is top-right.

The ZIF pin 1 is near ZIF lever handle.

cheers m8 one more quick question, with the adaptor in place which is pin 1? looking at the adaptor the lever arm is on my right to hold it into place
is pin 1 top or bottom?

First, you need a 16 bit TSOP48 adapter.

Then the adapter jumper you have set to 28FXXX position.

The address lines need to be connected between adapter and programmer A19,A20,A21.
