I got the dual power universal programmer (the $42.99 one)

When I plug in USB or 12v AC power and the LTP cable, all 3 led's light, voltage regulator gets hot quick.

Any clues where to start?

thanks

Brendan.

Try to remove the AC power. Only use USB power.
Most of chips will work when using USB power only.
