i am trying to program a 32k .bin file to my NH27C256G, and am getting an error message, "Error at 0x000000 Chip = 0xFF buffer = 0x02"

the program verifys the device is empty, and is able to read the chip as well.

Size and Checksum = 0x7FFF 0x9198.

I have the pogram set to "Willem". (its worth mentioning, the picture the program shows me for my DIP settings is backwards of what I have on my board... the picture goes from 12 to 1, my board goes from 1 to 12, and the "ON" marking is opposite).

Id really like to get this image burnt! Anyone who has had the same problem please share. Anyone who knows how I can burn this image, let me know please!
Dan

Your programmer still isn't suitable for programming EPROMs reliably. You require VCC=6.25-6.5V to be able to check for sufficient programming margin. Low VPP will also contribute to reliability problems, but not as much as low programming VCC.

Will an AT29C256 chip work better with my programmer?
Thanks,
Dan

Any ideas anyone?

i just attempted to burn a different image to the same 27c256 chip (tWP 1.0mS, tWC 20.0uS) and i got a new error message.

Error at 0x000010 Chip = 0xA2 buffer = 0x82

I also wonder, will I have the same issues with an AT29C256 chip? If the AT29C256 works better with the Enhanced Willem, I would like to use it.

Hope this might help!

Hey EZoSat (or anyone else reading along) I am still having problems programming my chip. I now have a UV eraser so that will help!

When I Chip Read, on pin 1 I have 4.05v. On pin 28 I have 4.71v.

I now get the error message, "Error at 0x000000 Chip = 0xFF buffer =0x02"

During Test H/W, on pin 1 I have 11.52v, pin 28 shows about 4.71v

Any ideas?

Nice nice, I changed Parallel port to EPP (from "Auto") and i now have voltage for VPP!!!! yeah!!! thanks EZoSat! u da mang~

BUT, i now have a new error...

when i try to program the chip, i now recevie the message, "Error at 0x00000F Chip 0x12 buffer =0x2"
The program is also telling me that my chip is not empty, so I will have to find another chip or a UV eraser before I can confirm everything is working. Thank you very much for your help so far EZoSat.

8pin chip pin 6 ~5.25v
14pin chip, pin 4 ~13v (i have a needle guage)
pins 12 and 14 show no voltage at all.

when i tick DW2 off, the red light goes off, and does not come back when i tick/untick Test HW 1-vpp.

i get 6 LED's when i activate Vcc. 5 Greed, 1 Red. (switches in this order, ON ON OFF OFF ON ON OFF ON ON OFF OFF OFF. (for 27C256).

im getting no voltage at all for Vpp.. on any pin on my ZIF. with the jumper on the bottom, top, or off. nothing. The VCC seems to be working, but is reading at about 4.5v. Any ideas on how come the Vpp pin has no voltage? (regardless of the jumper position)

also, i tested the 4 terminals under the USB power supply plug, and only the far left showed any voltage (4.5v). all others are dead. May this be the cause?

Set the software to PCB3, and set all DIP same as software showing.

You may need increase the tWp and tWc params from the software if you are using Enhanced.
