I'm kinda bummed, I read that the Enhanced Willem could read/write to a 8478 CPU with the 40-pin adapter, so I had assumed the gq-4x would handle it also since it comes stock with a 40-pin zif.

Not so...

Is there any chance adding support for this device in the next software update?

No. GQ-4X does not support this chip.
