Hello, I would like to know if "AVR JTAG ICE and AVRISP ISP programmer" is fully compatible with the original ATMEL JTAGICE MKII and whether AT90USB646 (and similars) con be debbuged with it or not. Thanks in advance.

Yes. The PRG-042 uses Atmel firmware. You can update the frimware from AVR Studio IDE software.

There is a green LED in side the box near USB connector. And it will be on when using the USB mode. But no serile on the case since it is not made by Atmel. I think you can return it if it does not work.

Some JTAGICEmkII is not support PDI

Note: Not all JTAGICE mkII units have PDI capabilities. To check whether your JTAGICE mkII is PDI capable, look for the following:

Serial number on underside starts with B0...

Green LED lights inside the encapsulation when a USB connection is made

Does PRG-042 support PDI interface?

Which interface use JTAG and/or PDI for XMEGA by PRG-042?

XMega support two interface, JTAG and PDI.
PDI interface is faster communication speed.

Hi,

The "AVR JTAG ICE and AVRISP ISP programmer" does not compatible with JTAGICE MKII.

The JTAGICE MKII is PRG-042 AVR JTAG ICE MKII
