I am trying to program an AM27C32-150DC with a GQ-4X. I only got a generic datasheet from the supplier which was for a NMC27C32. It says Vpp input needs to be 25v. I am using a 15vDC power supply. I run the Voltage Diagnostic test and I get "VPP 25V test passed (code:0x29)+" The AM27C32-150 is not listed under "Device Selection/Search." I have tried 27C32(25VPP) under "All(Generic)" I have tried 27C32. I have tried AM27C64. Nothing works to program the chip. Some chips fail at 4% others fail at verify. Do I need a 25vDC (or more) power supply? Do I need to add a new chip to the device listing? If I choose AM2732 as the Device, I get a red message in the log, "Apply external power!" Does this mean that my external power is insufficient or is it just a reminder?

I think you need to send the programmer and chip back for a testing.

If I plug the external power (9V 1.11A) into the programmer before I plug the USB cable in, Windows won't recognize the USB device and the programming software runs in "demo mode" only. If I plug the USB cable in first, the driver is recognized. 64 bit Windows 7. If the programmer gets USB power first, will it still recognize that it has external power and use it?

The chips are brand new, so I don't know if they are good. I have five chips and tried to program all of them--they all fail. I am able to program a AM27C64 (with and without an external power adapter).

connect the power adapter first. Then you should see the Power LED on.
then connect the USB cable.

are you able to confirm those EPROMs are good working EPROMs?

I have tried 9v, 12v, 15v, and 20v power adapters. How do I know that they are being used? There is no indicator light that acknowledges the external power. The "on" light doesn't light until I plug the USB cable in.

When I choose "AM2723" I see the "Apply external power!" message. That implies to me that I do need a power adapter...

If you use the power adapter, use 9V 200mA adapter will work.

Basically for the AM27C32 does not need the power adapter. So, remove the power adapter and see if works.

Select AM2732 should be able to program AM27C32 chip.

AM27C64 should work too.

Do they fail at same address location?
