I got the dual power universal programmer (the $42.99 one)
When I plug in USB or 12v AC power and the LTP cable, all 3 led's light, voltage regulator gets hot quick.
Any clues where to start?

Try to remove the AC power. Only use USB power.
Most of chips will work when using USB power only.
