I have in the past read alot of 24CL256 chips incircuit and socketed ones. I am having a problem now reading these chips they wont read. Somebody mentioned once that they can be controlled by another chip anybosy know anything about this?

Where the chip is SMD is there anyway to erase it without de soldering it from the board, i think if we can erase it then when power is restored i am thinking that it will get written with default information.

Thanks
