I'm trying to read from a Winbond 25Q128JVFQ SOIC-16. I'm using the ADP-098 adapter, but my reads result in FFFFFF for device ID and the contents read as FF.

The datasheet for this device can be found here: https://www.winbond.com/resource-files/w25q128jv%20spi%20revc%2011162016.pdf

Any suggestions?

Which device did you select in the software?

I've tried a few. I guessed that "W25Q128BV*SOIC16 would be close enough, but I still can't get it to read.

I think it should work. Any flux residues left on the pins from unsoldering?

Keep in mind that if you tried a 5V device definition you may have fried your chip.
