They act like they are starting to burn, go to 1% and quit. But then I do a blank check, and they still show as blank?

Can you ID the chip? IF you can not ID the chip, then it maybe related to the pin contacting OR chip itself.

There are many other users used this programmer to program AT27C256R, and no problem reported. That means the software should OK.

Did you try differenr speed? The chip also can be programmed with regular standard 27C256 device type.

How do you set speed with software 6.29 GQ-4X? I'm having a similar problem.

There is a speed setting area on the right software panel. From -2 to +2
